Dyslexia Awareness Month Showcase 2025

Dyslexia Genius Malaysia proudly organized the Dyslexia Awareness Month Showcase 2025, an inspiring event celebrating awareness, inclusion, and talent. The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Tuan Syed Ahmad bib Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Hadad, marking the start of a vibrant day filled with Coffee Talk and students performances.

The showcase opened with an inspiring DGM Drum Marching Band, the first Drum Marching band from a dyslexia centre. Followed by a spirited Chior consisting of 40 DGM Students singing their rendition of “Ewa Bulan” and “We Are The World”.

Coffee Talk session followed the Choir performance, a very informative and eye opening Coffee Talk session where panel speakers shared their knowledge of dyslexia and experience with dyslexia. Panel speakers includes YB Syed Ahmad a successful dyslexic (a recording artist turned politician), Dr Hazwani Padzir (a Family Medicine Specialist), Prof Dr Vijayaletchumy (Head of Department, Modern Language and Communications University Putra Malaysia) and Dr Norzilawati Kamsor (a mother whose son manage to overcome his difficulties and succeed in academics) 14 DGM students performed Tarian Ayak Didik which proves dyslexic can overcome issues with balance, coordination as well as self-confidence.

The highlight of the day was the fashion show where participants confidently walked the runway in style! Each outfit told a story of creativity, courage, and individuality, reminding us that confidence and expression have no limits. There were several categories organized…

Best Creative Design – Outfit that were designed by students, using material printed with students artwork. This category was won by artwork by Bradley Aryan Ooi and modeled by Muhammad Muhammad Shaffiz.

Best Catwalk – models walking the runaway wearing “Tudung” or Scarf printed by students artwork. Category won by Nur Zara Amanda who elegantly looked like a seasoned model.

Best Eco Look – Gowns made from recycle materials and designed by students. Gown called Rastit Revivial..a stunning gown made from gunny sack and used patchwork. This stunning gown was modeled by Nurul Alexa Zandra.

Best Make Up – this category won by beautifully makeup Lim Chun Hui who also modeled recycle gown called Peacock Fancy
Last category, Best Confidence Performance wa won by Zareen Putri as she walked confidently on the runaway. Wearing an oufit with artwork called Fruit Punch..

Congratulations to the winners…
The art of Self-Defense show was also persented by a 14 strong team of DGM students..self-defense is a part of therapy program at all DGM branches, its not only to served as self-defense, it also improved students’ focus, balance, coordination and self-confidence.

The showcase was closed with a Sabahan traditional dance performance by DGM Youth Program and Teachers..awesome performance..

With over 1,000 attendees, the event was a tremendous success, uniting the community in support of individuals with dyslexia and highlighting their incredible potential.
