Dyslexia Genius Malaysia organized a Dyslexia Awareness Carnival inconjunction with October being the World’s Awareness Month.
The carnival was organized to create and raised public awareness on dyslexia, as well as to showcase that dyslexics are able to participate in activities like any other kids or adults.
The carnival saw students of DGM Youth Program set up Food & Beverages booths to showcase their marketing, business and cooking skills..from selling Koreaan Sam Yang noodles, Nasi Ayam Penyet, Western menus to Malaysia’s “famous” Air Balang, Juices and Ice Blended and not forgetting delicious deserts and ice cream.
The Carnival started with Opening & Welcoming Speech by Dr Bulan Ayu, Owner & Program Director of DG Msia & DG Indonesia, followed by Official Opening by Puan Sariah Amirin AMW PPN “Ibu Dyslexia Malaysia” & the Advisor of DG Msia & Indonesia accompanied by Tuan Jaldeen Mohd Ali Founder of DGM.
A Coffee Talk session followed the opening ceremony with MC Mr Soosay Raja interviewing En Afif Hezree DGM Educational Psychologist talking briefly abt Dyslexia and Learning Disorder. The Coffee Talk also showcased successful Dyslexics and DGM Icons and current student from DGM Youth Program talking about their struggles and success.
Vince Low a world-renowned Artist who thanked Puan Sariah for her help and encouragements for Vince to have a more positive outlook on life and his career. His scribbled artwork now sells for over USD100K in the market.
DGM Icon Melvin Tan from humbles beginning and confused abt his difficulties in reading and learning, after attending DGM Youth Program, he he now a Marketing Genius, was employed by a multinational company based in New York, and currently pursuing his Masters in Special Education from University Malaya.
Another of DGM Icon Nur Afrina from struggling with Mathematics and numbers, after attending DGM Youth Program, she is now a Certified Accountant.
A genius and a success in the making..Adik Muhammad Siqqid will be sitting for his SPM this year, from obtaining below average results in school exams, recently after a year in DG Youth Program he scored 5As in his SPM Trails.
Congratulations to all, just a few success stories of dyslexics making it..
Free Dyslexia Screening Test was also conducted for members of the public who wanted to screened their kids if they have symptoms of dyslexia or other learning issues. Over 40 children was screened and those having symptoms were offered a RM50 voucher to undergo a Full and Comprehensive Assessment with DGM’s Team of Educational Psychologist.
Over 2000 members of the public, parents and supporters of DGM came to enjoy the festivities, food & beverages, coffee talk show as well as performances by DGM students, not forgetting lucky visitor won various Lucky Draw prizes sponsored by our Sponsors.
Special thanks to all parents who showed their undying support for all DGM activities, DGM teachers & management for their hard work in preparing for the carnival, DGM students for their commitment and effort for making the Carnival a huge success.
